Lolly Competes At Great Dunmow's Annual Soapbox Race

Lolly’s Lean, Mean, Soapbox Team Take To The Track In Style

Great Dunmow’s Annual Soapbox Race, officially the second largest soapbox race in the UK after Red Bull, was held on Sunday 25th May 2025. Lolly, a software company that provides cutting-edge technology for hospitality, made their racing debut with ‘Rocket Lolly’, the team’s speedy soapbox that gave an exceptional performance on the course.

This renowned soapbox event has raised over £150,000 for various local charities since its inaugural opening in 2018, including Braintree Area Foodbank, our partnered charity that supplies essential items for families in need within the local community.

Each year, this event would not be possible without the help of its 100+ volunteers across several organisations, including Great Dunmow Round Table, Ladies Circle, 41 Club, Tangent, Essex Search & Rescue, Mind West Essex, Diabetes UK, and Accuro, all of whom worked tirelessly to set up the course before 6am on the day of the event.

This year’s soapbox race saw an array of talent and creativity, action-packed with the adrenaline and excitement of approximately 15,000 roaring spectators and 55 competing soapbox racers. Each participating team gave their compelling walkouts, showcasing their wildly fun costumes and visually striking homemade soapbox inventions, inspired by the likes of Donkey Kong, Only Fools & Horses, and Looney Tunes to name a few.

Peter Moore, Founder and CEO of Lolly and the rest of Team Lolly, made their debut appearance on the track, delivering a standout entrance as each team member wielded their signature money guns, firing fake, company-branded money into the crowd as Dire Straits, Money for Nothing soundtracked their walkout – an idea inspired by their established name “Lolly”, a term for money in Cockney slang.

Despite being classed as one of this year’s wild cards, Lolly’s unforgettable orange soapbox triumphed on the track, completing runs in times that were giving even some of the more seasoned soapbox competitors a run for their money. After swiftly navigating several jumps, obstacles, as well as a surprise foam pit mid-way down the track, Lolly’s driver Angus completed the course in an impressive 24 seconds, instantly propelling Team Lolly up to a sweet 2nd place in the first run.

After all teams had completed their three runs, Lolly’s valiant efforts earned them 5th place overall out of a total of 55 teams – a result in which the whole company was proud to announce. In the end, reigning champions Team Greased Lightening claimed their 1st place trophy at the Great Dunmow Soapbox Race 2025 in an epic nail-biting finish, with less than a second separating the top three teams.

Organiser Ollie Wyatt said: “I am incredibly proud of everyone who pulled together to make this happen. The Soapbox Race has become something really special in this community, and we love seeing people travel from all over to experience it.”
