Lolly is proud to support the next generation of business leaders through meaningful community engagement. By sponsoring student-led events, the company demonstrates its dedication to making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
On Thursday 27th May, Lolly sponsored the Entrepreneur Pitch Competition & Enterprise Awards at the University of Suffolk. This event, designed for final-year BA (Hons) Business Management students, celebrated innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and real-world business impact. Throughout the five-hour showcase, students were awarded for their ideas and achievements, as well as their creativity, success, and contributions to the business community.
Peter Moore, Founder and CEO of Lolly, was invited to represent the industry side of the judging panel by participating as a co-lead judge of the competition.
Prior to the event, Peter and the rest of the judges across the industry and academic panels were given a short brief, outlining what students have been asked to prepare, and the type of criteria judges would need to look for during each student’s pitch.
As co-lead judge, Peter’s duties and expertise comprised of supporting the entire judging process, from coordinating decisions, ensuring consistency across the panel, to summarising scores where needed. At the awards segment of the event, Peter was asked to bring his leading insights to centre stage, giving a brief reflection on the judges’ deliberation process and highlighting which elements impressed the panel in each enterprise pitch.
The Enterprise Awards celebrate students’ notable accomplishments, competition wins, and course-wide innovations that are shaping the future of tomorrow’s business entrepreneurs.
While the Final Year Pitch Competition stood at the forefront of the event, its agenda also brought light to students' development and their limitless potential beyond graduation. This consisted of recognising student business projects and initiatives across the academic year, exciting changes and improvements to the course, commemorating student achievements, honouring student contributions to the University of Suffolk throughout the course, and building student-employer connections with invaluable networking opportunities.
As part of the company’s sponsorship of the competition, Lolly has also granted the deserving winner a £250 cash prize, intended to support their business development and fund practical advice which will aid their venture.
Lolly’s sponsorship prize also gives the winning entrepreneur three private 1:1 mentoring sessions with Peter Moore, redeemable over a one-year period. This exclusive mentorship will be tailored around the winning entrepreneur’s short-term and long-term career goals, honing in on their areas of interest, and helping improve any specific areas they wish to develop.
Once all students had delivered their pitches and the winning candidate had been decided, Peter was pleased to announce Dexter Denny ‘The Enterprising Graduate’ of 2024/2025, appointing him the winner of Most Enterprising Pitch for his final year dissertation. Dexter: “I was thrilled to receive the £250 cash prize and one year mentorship programme - what an incredible way to round off my degree journey! A huge congratulations to everyone who took part. The creativity, passion, and innovation on display from every pitch was truly inspiring.”
Lolly was proud to sponsor, judge, and make its awarding contributions towards the Enterprise Pitch Competition. Peter Moore was honoured to support the success of the current, up and coming generation of students in higher education, soon to be business pioneers who will be leading the way in building new initiatives and shaping innovation throughout the industry.
Celebrating student success is an area that Lolly strongly supports and takes pride in giving opportunities that enrich students’ learning, preparing them for that crucial first step in their chosen careers.
