Supporting Kids Inspire Summer Lunch Club

Supporting Kids Inspire Summer Lunch Club

On 28th July, five members of the Lolly team spent the day volunteering with our charity partner Kids Inspire, at their Summer Lunch Club, joining children for a fun-filled Superheroes themed session. The program also includes upcoming Nature and Around the World themed days throughout August, providing engaging activities and valuable support for local families.

Why the Summer Lunch Club Matters

For 15 years, Kids Inspire has run free Holiday Clubs during school breaks for disadvantaged children aged 6-10 in and around Chelmsford. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to heavily impact local families, these clubs are more critical than ever. They offer a safe, therapeutic environment where children can enjoy art, dance, drama, music, and sport, while giving parents and carers an essential, much-needed break.

Rachael Bassett, Fundraising Manager at Kids Inspire, shared: “A vital part of this program is providing a nutritious lunch and healthy snacks to every child, completely free of charge. Many of the children who attend are eligible for free school meals or pupil premium, meaning school holidays bring immense financial pressure and food insecurity to their households.

“We are only able to run projects like this thanks to the generous support of corporate partners like you, who donate both funding and valuable volunteer time. We truly hope the Lolly team had a fantastic day with us!”

Darcy Johnson, one of Lolly's volunteers, said: "Seeing the impact the summer lunch clubs have on the children Kids Inspire supports was incredible. I feel so lucky that Lolly gives us these opportunities to get out there and help people who need and deserve that little bit of extra kindness. It was brilliant to watch the kids come out of their shells, make new friends, throw themselves into the activities and, best of all, smile! I feel genuinely privileged to support such an amazing charity whenever we can."

A huge thank you to the entire Kids Inspire team for welcoming our team and for the remarkable work they do across Essex every day. To learn more about the support they provide to children and families, visit https://www.kidsinspire.org.uk/
