This year’s CUBO Summer Conference, held on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th June at Northumbria University, served as a dynamic platform for sharing best practices, exploring transformative technologies, and celebrating excellence in the Further and Higher Education sector.
With a strong focus on developing tomorrow’s campuses, this event brought together a vibrant community of leaders, innovators, and service providers dedicated to enhancing the student experience across UK campuses.
From sustainable campus operations to digital transformation, this year’s event emphasised the importance of technological innovations which are helping colleges and universities better develop their campuses for the next generation of students. Lolly’s team of experts welcomed attendees to their stand, showcasing their range of product innovations designed to futureproof campus operations.
Peter Moore, Founder and CEO of Lolly, led a compelling and exclusive workshop on how academic institutions can prepare for the arrival of Gen Alpha - the next wave of digitally native students.
His session explored how institutions can adapt to the expectations of this tech-savvy cohort by embracing automation, personalisation, and data-driven decision-making. For educators and administrators, the message was clear; the future of student engagement lies in seamless, tech-enabled experiences.
At their dedicated stand, Lolly hosted a one-off prize draw, giving those that entered the chance to win a two-week Lolly Nova robot waiter trial, a state-of-the-art hospitality robot which captivated the attention of attendees throughout the two days.
The Lolly Nova even took centre stage during the CUBO Awards, co-presenting alongside Peter Moore in handing out the ‘Best Marketing Campaign’ award, Lolly’s sponsored category. This moment symbolised the tangible impact of emerging technologies on campus, recognising Lolly’s efforts as a software house as they continue to push the boundaries in developing new innovations for real-world applications, from dining halls to event spaces.
The prestigious CUBO Awards evening brought the two-day conference to a close, celebrating institutions that have gone above and beyond in delivering exceptional student experiences. The categories ranged from ‘Best Residence Life Experience’ to ‘Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion’, highlighting the sector’s commitment to holistic student development and inclusive campus cultures.
More than just a conference, the event was a true testament to the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change, helping the education sector in its ongoing journey to transform campus life for future generations.
Chloe McDean, an aspiring marketer who is currently studying media in her GCSEs, joined Lolly’s experienced marketing department for five days to complete her school work experience module. During her time at Lolly, she learned valuable tips in how to navigate industry-standard marketing tools and discovered more about what a role in marketing entails.
