Payments Specialist

The Payments Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end payments processes across Lolly’s EPOS business. Payments sit at the heart of Lolly’s commercial operation. This role exists to ensure that merchant payments and compliance are accurate. You will act as the internal payments subject-matter expert, working closely with Finance, Operations, Support, and external payment providers to ensure robust processes, clear ownership, and minimal disruption to customers. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, operational discipline, and the confidence to challenge issues before they become problems.

Responsibilities

· Own the end-to-end payments operation across Lolly’s EPOS estate, acting as the internal subject-matter expert for all payment related activity.

· Manage merchant onboarding/offboarding and lifecycle management, including MIDs, terminal ordering, activation, swaps, decommissioning, and returns (RMA).

· Investigate and resolve transaction, settlement, and payment channel issues, acting as the escalation point for complex or business critical incidents.

· Maintain accurate payment asset and merchant data, reconciling internal databases with acquirer and provider records to ensure integrity and audit readiness.

· Maintain Lolly’s PCI DSS compliance as both a Service Provider and in collaboration with acquiring partners, ensuring secure handling of payments data and documentation.

· Manage and develop relationships with acquiring partners and hardware providers, including analysis of acquirer agreements and MSC reporting.

· Work closely with Projects, Operations, Support, and Booker Onboarding teams to support installations, migrations, onboarding activity, and live service delivery.

· Communicate directly with customers where required, including issuing P2PE terminal details, installation documentation, and payment-related onboarding information.

Key Skills & Requirements

Essential

· Experience in payments operations, finance operations, or merchant services

· Strong understanding of card payments, settlements, and reconciliation

· High attention to detail and process discipline

· Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and reporting tools

· Confident working across teams and with external providers

· Able to manage multiple issues without losing control

Desirable

· Experience within EPOS, SaaS, or hospitality environments

· Exposure to PCI DSS, chargebacks, or fraud processes

· Experience working with payment gateways or acquirers

· Familiarity with scaling operational processes

Preferred Qualifications

· Educated to A-level or equivalent (or demonstrable equivalent experience)

· Strong numerical and analytical capability

· Proven practical experience in payments, finance operations, or transaction processing
