At Lolly, we build technology that transforms hospitality operations, from service automation to integrated EPoS systems. In collaboration with climate-fintech company Reewild, we delivered an industry-first integration that rewarded customers for making lower-carbon food choices in real time.
With Lolly’s infrastructure already embedded across University College London (UCL) through our partnership with CH&CO, we had the perfect environment to roll out this innovative project quickly and seamlessly. Together, we set out to prove that sustainability can be embedded into everyday purchases – and made meaningful at the point of sale.
Reewild is a climate-fintech company on a mission to make sustainable consumption easy, rewarding, and mainstream. Its PlanetPoints platform allows consumers to see the carbon footprint of their food choices in real time, then earn rewards for choosing lower-emission items. Think of it like Avios points – but for carbon. The platform aims to drive scalable behaviour change while aligning individual choices with broader environmental goals.
To deliver real-time rewards for low-carbon choices, Reewild needed access to SKU-level purchase data at the point of sale, something most EPoS providers struggle to accommodate. Lolly’s challenge was to integrate Reewild’s PlanetPoints engine into our existing system, without disrupting the speed of service or front-of-house operations.
Thanks to our flexible API architecture and deep integration capability, we were able to make it happen.
Together, we created a real-time data connection between Lolly’s EPoS platform and Reewild’s carbon scoring engine. Every food and drink item sold on-site was automatically matched with lifecycle assessment (LCA) data from providers like Foodsteps and Planet FWD. Customers were then issued PlanetPoints at checkout, with A–C rated items earning higher rewards.
Students could view their points and carbon impact via a personal dashboard, while catering staff and UCL stakeholders accessed backend analytics showing product performance and emissions trends – all without any extra admin or operational disruption.
Freddie Lintell, Founder and CEO at Reewild commented: “Lolly have been an ideal partner – agile, collaborative, and genuinely committed to enabling purpose-driven innovation. Their technical support and openness made it possible to bring our vision to life in a live environment, fast.”
Within the first month of the pilot:
• Over 685 students signed up in the first month – over 20% adoption rate, exceeding typical industry benchmarks.
• 31% of users redeemed points, well above industry norms.
• A 16.8% decrease in overall emission of baskets vs non-PlanetPoint users
• 9.8% more transactions per month compared to non-users
• 5.5% higher basket value compared to non-users
Students reported feeling more engaged and aware of their food choices, while UCL’s catering team gained actionable insights for future planning.
“At Lolly, we’re committed to building technology that not only makes operations more efficient but also enables our partners to innovate with purpose,” said Harriet Gribble, Project Manager at Lolly. “This collaboration with Reewild is a great example of how our open infrastructure empowers bold ideas, whether it is robotic automation or real-time sustainability engagement. We are proud to help shape the future of foodservice through smart, adaptable tech.”
Following this successful pilot, Lolly and Reewild are now exploring expansion across other sites and additional universities. The PlanetPoints platform is evolving too, soon incorporating rewards for healthy eating and local sourcing, supporting wider Net Zero and wellbeing goals.
This collaboration proves that with the right technology partner, sustainability does not need to sit in the background – it can be embedded in every transaction.

Lolly, the hospitality software specialist, has completed the full offsetting of its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions for 2024 with Circular Ecology. They have continued to evolve their net-zero roadmap, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded across the organisation.

Peter Moore, CEO and Founder of Lolly, explores how time is changing technology & customer experience in hospitality. He revealed what customers truly value, and how businesses can strip away friction to create experiences that feel intuitive, responsive, and effortless. He also unpacked the emerging trends already gaining momentum- technologies and behaviours that will soon shift from 'nice to have' to 'non-negotiable.'
