Here at Lolly, we give students who are brand-new to the working world a head start in their field of interest, by providing work experience placements and entry-level roles to those that wish to develop their skillsets and learn how to reach their future career goals.
Chloe McDean, an aspiring marketer who is currently studying media in her GCSEs, joined Lolly’s experienced marketing department for five days to complete her school work experience module. During her time at Lolly, she learned valuable tips in how to navigate industry-standard marketing tools and discovered more about what a role in marketing entails.
My first day began with a welcome tour and introductions to the team. I then attended the Marketing Weekly Planning meeting where the main objectives were outlined. Afterwards, I had a detailed look at Lolly’s website, social media channels, and news articles, and even familiarised myself with the company’s core product range. Then I explored Lolly’s brand guidelines and was shown how all marketing materials must align with this criterion.
I started my second day looking at the content tags of articles, putting together a detailed overview of which tags had been assigned to each release, while making an account of which posts were most/least popular. I then sat in on the Social Media Strategy Update meeting, followed by a Lolly x Business Vitamins meeting. Later in the day I met Mark, Lolly’s Marketing Strategist, who gave me a rundown on what marketing is, explaining the elements of an effective campaign. At the end of the day, I was introduced into Canva, where I produced a mock social media post to help familiarises myself with the software.
On my third day, I made a mood board in Canva, outlining my favourite brands and why I was drawn to them. Once completed, I then investigated the marketing strategies of each brand and how they resonate with their target market. I then went through how to use AI when generating images and videos, followed by an introductory webinar on Microsoft CoPilot.
I started the day by catching up with Jane on how the week was going. Here, I was able to ask a few questions on best practices in marketing. I then carried out competitor research, with a focus on social channels and web content. Afterwards, I continued working on my blog and social post.
On my last day, I conducted research into AI in marketing and looked through relevant industry magazines. Using the research I had gained from the magazines, I then made an advert for Lolly using Canva and AI.
I found my week of work experience to be very informative, having realised my passion for marketing and learning how I can pursue a career in this field.

As the hospitality sector moves through another year of rapid technological evolution, one thing has become clear: while innovation continues at pace, the gap between promise and real-world delivery is widening. 2025 has been dominated by conversation, ambition and expectation, but 2026 will be defined by outcomes.

Lolly volunteers at Kids Inspire’s Christmas Appeal, wrapping gifts to bring joy and support mental health for children and families across Essex and Suffolk.

Lolly, the hospitality software specialist, has completed the full offsetting of its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions for 2024 with Circular Ecology. They have continued to evolve their net-zero roadmap, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded across the organisation.
